A What Kind Of Open Sleigh?

Lately Alex has taken to saying, "Mommy, want to hear a song I never sang before?" He then launches into a loud, repetitive rendition of his interpretation of Jingle Bells. I was finally able to catch the show with our camera.

I must preface this by saying that it had been a long day, we had ran around at Davis' Farmland for 4 hours and everyone was pretty worn out. Usually Alex is pretty energetic but, as you'll see, this is a little more subdued than normal.

Mommy's Little Helper

As the kids grow I tend to give them certain age appropriate tasks to help mom around the house. One of my most successful has been to give Conner a measuring cup and have him fill up the cats' food dispenser.

He loves the scooping and pouring, and it takes him a good fifteen minutes, priceless time in my day that I can spend:
  • relaxing; or
  • doing yesterday's dishes;
  • maybe throw in a load of laundry, nope scratch that, rewash the laundry that's been in the washing machine since, um, I forget;
  • clean up that congealed milk that leaked out of that non-spill cup onto the hardwood floor;
  • change the baby...again.

What I'm getting at here is that having the kids help out with chores is really helpful. Unless the phone rings right after you ask him to do it.
